Captain's Pizza (Bridgeport, CT)

Captain's Pizza
4050 Main Street
Bridgeport, Connecticut 06606
(203) 371-0470

Captain's now has several restaurants in Fairfield & New Haven counties. I have visited the Captain's in Bridgeport and Fairfield. I happen to be a big fan of the Greek style of Pizza, and Captain's make a Greek style of Pizza that's hard to beat. It's hot, fresh and has a great crunchy crust. Captain's pizza is similar to Paradise Pizza in Stratford (another favorite of mine.) I have seen some negative reviews on Captain's on the internet, and I honestly don't know what these people are talking about. I love Captain's Pizza!

Ro's Apizza (Oakville, CT)

Ro's Apizza
841 Main Street
Oakville, CT 06779
Tel (203) 274-1348

I went to Ro's in 2011 while visiting a friend in Watertown. He suggested we go there, and to be honest I thought the pizza was well above average. It was a thick crust pie (my personal favorite) and it was hot and tasty with a crunchy crust. We got a sausage and pepper pie, and it really hit the spot. Had a couple of cold Coors with it, while watching the Blue Jays bury the Yankees (a perfect evening!) The one drawback on Ro's it was a bit pricey.

Jerry's Shakespeare Pizza (Stratford, CT)

Jerry's Shakespeare Pizza
999 Stratford Ave
Stratford, CT 064
Tel (203) 212-9916

I have been going to Jerry's Shakespeare Pizza since 1981. In fact I heard about the Keith Hernandez trade to the New York Mets, while waiting for a pizza in my car at Jerry's in 1983. Jerry's pizza is very similar to Paradise Pizza (which is right down the road on Main Street in Stratford.) Jerry's Pizza is delicious, great cheese, toppings and a great crunchy crust. It's one of my favorite pies in Connecticut. Jerry's is located in Stratford's south end, at the corner of Main Street and Stratford Avenue (very close to I-95.) I recommend their pizza highly, I need to try some of their other food sometime!

Armellino's Pizza (Milford, CT)

Armellino's Italian Restaurant
667 Bridgeport Ave
Milford, CT 06460
203-874-6509

Armellino's is located on Route 1 in Milford (in the Devon area.) I ordered a sausage and onion pizza tonight and it was terrific. Armellino's specializes in thin crust pizza with lots of flavor and a crunchy crust. Armellino's has lots of parking, and the staff is very friendly. I would most certainly return there to try other items on their menu. For take out orders, the take out area is in the rear of the restaurant.

Tony's Pizza (Milford, CT)

Tony's Pizza
784 Boston Post Road
Milford, CT 06461
203-874-6115

Tony's Pizza is a rather faceless little restaurant in a strip mall at the junction of Route 1 and Route 121 in Milford. I used to pass by the place all the time without stopping in. Eventually I decided to try them, and their pizza was a lot better than I expected. It's a thin crust pizza that's really quite good. Tony's is mainly a take-out place, as I think they only have one or two small tables inside. They run a lot of weekday specials too. Tony's is a decent little place, that is certainly worth a try!

Bozrah Pizza Restaurant (Bozrah, CT)

Bozrah Pizza Restaurant
426 Salem Turnpike
Bozrah, Connecticut 06334
860-886-4889

Bozrah Pizza is located on Route 82 in Bozrah (which is a small rural town between Montville & Norwich.) I discovered this restaurant in 2010 while on my way to a Connecticut Tigers game at Dodd Stadium in Norwich. Bozrah Pizza is a small, old time type pizza place that is located in a small strip mall. The pizza is really quite unique, it almost has the texture of deep dish pizza. I usually order a sausage and onion pie, and it is absolutely delicious. It's quite filling, with a large pie easily feeding two hungry adults. Even the small pizza is extremely filling. I also get a chicken parm. dinner on occasion, and it too is outstanding (one order usually is enough for two meals.) Bozrah Pizza's portions are very generous, and the prices are a great value. The staff is very friendly, take out orders are always ready on time, and there is plenty of parking. Bozrah Pizza is only about a mile from the Norwich line, and very close to I-395. It's an ideal stop if you are heading to Dodd Stadium for a Tigers game.

Paradise Pizza Restaurant (Stratford, CT)

Paradise Pizza Restaurant
3610 Main Street
Stratford, CT
06614
203-377-0476

I used to go to Paradise Pizza on the Stratford Green a lot during the early 80's when I worked in Stratford. I just just started going back recently and I had forgotten how good it was. Paradise makes their pizza the Greek style, which guarantees a nice crunchy crust. I ordered a sausage pie there the other day and it was just dynamite! I practically inhaled it! Paradise might just be my favorite pizza in Connecticut. Paradise is located on Main Street in Stratford, about midway between Rte 15 and I-95. Parking is right in front. The staff had also been extremely nice, and take out orders are also hot and ready on time. As it stands right now Paradise Pizza Restaurant in my favorite pizza in Connecticut!
