Bella Napoli is right in my neighborhood and for some reason it's a place I kinda took for granted. I just started going back there a few weeks ago and had two of the best pizzas I have had in ages.

My friend and I went to Bella Napoli this past Saturday night after being turned away everywhere in town for the so-called "Fight Of The Century." We ordered a large "meat lovers" pizza and it was absolutely dynamite. It took us a full hour to eat it and man did it hit the spot. It came with a free pitcher of beer too.

Our waitress was incredibly nice and very prompt. Another thing I like about Bella Napoli is it's old time atmosphere. It has none of that arrogant yuppie jive you find in many modern restaurants. I had a great time there and didn't miss seeing the fight one bit. The dining room had a really relaxing atmosphere and I can't wait to go back this week.

Mario The Baker (Bridgeport, CT)

Mario The Baker Italian Restaurant
4414 Main Street
Bridgeport, CT
06606
Tel (203) 372-3335

Mario The Baker opened it's doors in 1970 and has been serving excellent pizza to Bridgeport's North End ever since. I used to live right down the road from the place and have been going there for decades. The place has a nice down home atmosphere and the pizza is always excellent. I have also had other dishes such as spaghetti & meatball, ziti etc. and everything was great.

Parking can be a bit tight at dinner time but you can usually find a spot fairly easy. Mario The Baker is right across the street from the Merritt Canteen (which is another area landmark and a must visit.) Mario The Baker doesn't get much hype outside of the Bridgeport area but it's a great place to grab a pizza if you are in Bridgeport. It's only a couple of miles south of Rte 15.
